PUBLIC RELATIONS

Summer 2021

We are looking for a dedicated, highly motivated individual who wants to gain experience working in an non-profit arts organization, and learn the ins and outs of marketing and communication strategies and implementation to join our organization. In this role, you will be working closely with founder Camryn Stafford and assisting with the writing of media releases, scheduling PR events, conducting research, and much more. You will also be working closely with interns from other departments to determine their PR needs.

 

To be a successful PR intern, you must be a confident public speaker and have basic skills in copywriting and social media marketing. Ultimately, an outstanding PR intern should be able to build relationships with the media and suppliers of marketing material, while constantly looking for ways to boost the Turning Tables image.

  • One Public Relations Intern will work closely with Camryn in implementing the company’s PR strategy, 

  • Assists with all aspects of securing, tracking, and archiving media coverage of Turning Tables and initiatives by founder, Camryn Stafford. 

  • Press responsibilities include helping to manage media relations and materials for all of Camryn’s and  Turning Tables’ events and updates, maintaining clippings, archives and tracking, writing press releases, and crafting story pitching strategies. 

  • As part of the Marketing team, the Public Relations Intern also develops editorial content for Turning Tables’ platforms, creates engaging content for media releases, social media platforms, and newsletters, and updates and maintains the Turning Tables’ social media pages.

  • Building relationships with clients and potential clients, suppliers, and the media.

  • Schedule and organize events.

  • Giving input on marketing initiatives and suggesting creative ways to improve the company’s public image.

  • Conducting research on marketing initiatives of the company’s competitors.

  • Updating media lists.

  • Performing administrative duties.

  • Candidates should be strong writers with an eye for detail, organized, effective time managers, and have excellent interpersonal skills and marketing instincts.

  • Excellent understanding of various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram, and YouTube.

  • Efficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Basic budget management skills to track spending on sponsorships, events, and marketing material.

  • Comfortable with public speaking and engaging with customers.

  • Good research and analytical skills.

  • The ability to prioritize your workload and keep to strict content deadlines. 

  • Knowledge of the dance field is preferred; 

  • Journalism, English, Public Relations, Communications and Marketing majors are encouraged to apply.
