OPEN TABLE SERIES

An Emerging Artists Program

ABOUT

In 2026, Turning Tables presents Open Table, a reimagining and evolution of A Seat At The Table, our inaugural program founded in 2017. What began as a direct response to discriminatory practices embedded within the dance world has grown into an expanded platform centering process, inquiry, and artistic development.

Open Table builds on the original mission of A Seat At The Table—to confront underrepresentation, bias, unequal standards, and barriers to access—while shifting toward a model that prioritizes sustained engagement and the cultivation of emerging voices. Rooted in Turning Tables’ five pillars—Underrepresentation, Bias, Standard, Acceptance, and Pride—Open Table invites artists to create work that is both critically rigorous and deeply embodied.

OPEN TABLE SERIES 1
Identity & reclamation

Join us on April 10 at Arts On Site NYC for Open Table Series 1, the inaugural performance of Turning Tables’ new choreographic platform. Centered around the 2026 theme Identity and Reclamation, the program features NYC-based emerging artists presenting new and existing works that push the boundaries of dance through deeply embodied practice.

Curated to reflect a dynamic range of movement vocabularies, cultural expressions, and perspectives, Open Table Series highlights choreographers rigorously engaging with personal and collective narratives while upholding a high standard of artistic inquiry.
