In 2026, Turning Tables presents Open Table, a reimagining and evolution of A Seat At The Table, our inaugural program founded in 2017. What began as a direct response to discriminatory practices embedded within the dance world has grown into an expanded platform centering process, inquiry, and artistic development.

Open Table builds on the original mission of A Seat At The Table—to confront underrepresentation, bias, unequal standards, and barriers to access—while shifting toward a model that prioritizes sustained engagement and the cultivation of emerging voices. Rooted in Turning Tables’ five pillars—Underrepresentation, Bias, Standard, Acceptance, and Pride—Open Table invites artists to create work that is both critically rigorous and deeply embodied.

Conceived as an ongoing, NYC-based emerging artists program, Open Table supports choreographers through process-driven creation and public sharing. Each iteration is numbered sequentially—Open Table 1, Open Table 2, Open Table 3, and beyond—signaling a living platform with continuity, memory, and room to grow.
